About Us
The Garden City Library is part of the LYNX! Consortium, which is an inter-library network of southern Idaho. This inter-library network allows the patrons of any of the member libraries to use the services of all the LYNX! Consortium libraries. The Garden City Library is able to utilize LYNX! Consortium materials by placing holds on other LYNX! Consortium library's materials and having the library materials delivered and/or picked up by the LYNX! Consortium courier service.
The Garden City Library has a collection of fiction and non fiction books 29,000 strong, our reference collection is about 460, audio books 2,500, music collection over 1,000, and DVD/Videos over 2,400.
The Garden City Library has Windows based software and computers. The Garden City Library public computer lab has nineteen public computers and eight children's computers.
The Garden City Library has a convenient self check out machine, new shelving and a wonderful childrens area. The childrens area has eight childrens level computer stations with tree shaped panels and childrens level bookcases with embedded bench style seating.
The north east section of the Garden City Library is our young adult area with bistro style tables, individual desks, soft chairs for reading and tables for studying.
The Garden City Library has nine part time employees and five full time employees. The departments within the Garden City Library are Reference, which includes information, research, interlibrary loans, readers advisory and the computer lab; Circulation, which includes checkouts, holds, renewals and fines; Youth Services, which includes programs for children, teens and adults for patrons and our outreach programs; Technical Services, which completes all processing and cataloging of our collection.
