The Library receives $10,000 from the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc.
The Garden City Library has been awarded a grant of $10,000 from Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. to replace children’s books dated prior to 1985.
Garden City, ID, August 18, 2009 – The Garden City Library has been awarded a grant of $10,000 by Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. The grant will assist the library in replacing children’s books in the collection dated prior to 1985 in accordance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. The library has identified 1,200 titles dated pre 1985 that have the potential of containing lead.
Garden City Library is the “Number One Circulating Library in the Treasure Valley per capita”. Last year the library put on nearly 500 programs with over 16,000 in attendance, which exceeds the number of residence in the city.
Garden City Library is an integral part of the community and an outstanding example of successful library programming. “We feel it is our responsibility to do our part to ensure children in our community have safe books to read,” says Lisa Zeiter, Library Director. “We are grateful to Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. for helping us meet our goals.”
